A Rendezvous At CanteenM in Times Square, New York

Times Square NYC, Rendezvous En New York
Times Square NYC

Last Tuesday, I made my way to Times Square in Manhattan. If you haven’t been before, Times Square is the most stimulating place in the Manhattan with the lights, the noise, and the crowds. So, I don’t visit Times Square often, but I found myself there on a very cold afternoon, wanting to stop warm up and get a bite to eat. I ended up walking down Broadway to the CitizenM Hotel Times Square, inside the lobby of this hotel is CanteenM. CanteenM is open 24 hours a day for “grab & go” food and until 2 am for bar service. CanteenM is in the middle of the CitizenM living room, a.k.a. the lobby.

What Makes the CanteenM So Special?

The atmosphere is so laid back in CanteenM and feels almost like a stand-alone café. It is spacious and very much like a posh living room with a library. In the middle of it all, are the barista station and bar. It is a calm oasis in the middle of the chaotic city.

So What Did I End Up Ordering?

The service was excellent there and I felt like I was attended to from the moment I walked in the door. I chose a “grab & go” sandwich from the display and ordered an almond milk hot chocolate. My sandwich; a chicken, roasted pepper, and avocado on a multi-grain loaf, was heated for me and brought to me on a china plate with my hot chocolate to my table. The quiet of the CanteenM made you forget exactly where you were. I was transported into a bookstore where everyone was relaxed and were busy working on their tablets, watching the news or reading the paper. I took my time, with the frenzy outside being so far away.  After completely warming up, and being satisfied from my delicious sandwich, I got my plate cleared for me and felt very special. My lunch break left me feeling completely recharged and ready to deal with the crowds of Times Square.

Great Service with Luxurious Surroundings

As I left, the baristas both waved goodbye to top off my stellar service at CanteenM. If you are ever in the neighborhood, don’t think that you need to have a room upstairs to take advantage of the calm of the living room at CitizenM, you could just rest your feet from a day of marathon shopping and try the best almond milk hot chocolate in the neighborhood. CanteenM is located inside the CitizenM Hotel in Times Square, New York at 218 West 50th Street (50th & Broadway).

Have you tried a lunch in luxe hotel without having a room? Where were you? What made the meal special? I want to know where I can go next! Tell me all about it in the comments below and let’s give each the inside scoop.

Until our next rendezvous…

XOXO

What a peaceful lunch amid chaos outside! It has been ages since I’ve walked in Times Square. We probably drove through two or three years ago. It’s amazing that such an oasis exists in that spot.

Yeah, I didn’t know that it existed. I would love to spend a night there as well. Maybe next time.

Sounds like the perfect place to hang out and unwind! 🙂

It shocked me as well. It was a great place to unwind, I believe that is this hotel chain’s way of design. CitizenM hotels are the anti hotel where they have spun things on its head and made it a very different experience to be away from home.

I’ve never heard of them! Now I’ll have to check them out! I hope all is well with you, Trudy.

I hadn’t either! The room prices are reasonable, well for the middle of Manhattan, anyway. I’m ok, Sabine. Hope that you are mending well! 😁

I was born and raised in New York and Manhattan was a favorite place to go for me. I am old now and live in Florida, yes the pasture for folks from the North East but I love the weather. When ever we go to visit our children and grand children we head to Manhattan. Still my favorite place. ☺☺☺

Don’t set yourself out to pasture! Well when it’s warmer, I hope that you get to see the stations with your family!

What do you think? I would like to know.
