Have you been waiting patiently to go on vacation with your family? Now the end of Covid-19 is in sight and places are opening up again, you can start looking at destinations and clicking the book button once again. You have to decide whether you want some summer sun or venture off somewhere for some fun in the snow. Do you want the beach or the mountains? If you do decide to plan a family Winter vacation there are a lot of things you need to consider.
There are some great winter destinations, for example, Aspen in Colorado is known for its beautiful ski resorts. If you are looking to venture a bit further then you could visit Europe and go to the home of Santa Clause, yep you guessed it, Lapland. There are lots of other great places to choose from as well.

Entertainment
This is very important and should be planned out carefully, you will need to keep the children entertained while on the way to your destination and potentially in the hotel on days when you aren’t doing anything or venturing out anywhere. Whether you are driving or using another form of transportation to reach your vacation destination your children will need things to play with and stuff to watch.
You can get specially made travel packs for children to take with you, you can find them online and all you have to do is enter your children’s ages and genders. You will then be sent out the packs suitable for them. They contain several items and games to keep your little ones happy while traveling. Alternatively, you can make your own at home. Simply buy or use a bag you already have such as a small backpack, fill it with items your child loves to play with, and watch their eyes light up when they receive them.
Activities
You might want to take a look at the various activities you can do wherever you are going before you go. It’s also a good idea to find out the prices of activities before you go so you know if they fit into your budget or not.
There is a lot to do on a winter holiday including husky sledding, skiing, and of course building snowmen. You can also have a good old-fashioned snowball fight. Whatever you choose to do you and the children will have a great time making memories and spending quality time together.
The great thing about winter holidays is that you and the children can learn a new skill, you can sign up for snowboard lessons or skiing lessons. Learning from a professional is the best way to pick up the skill at a quicker pace. You will need to have all the right accessories needed for skiing and snowboarding including helmets and goggles. The youth ski helmet is great for younger kids aged 3-8.
Clothing
When you go to a winter vacation destination it is important to remember that you will need completely different items of clothing compared to a summer holiday. You will need thick jackets, some long-sleeved t-shirts and also jumpers to wear under your jackets. Snow boots are also an item of clothing you might want to think about getting for everyone.
I hope you found this guide helpful and you enjoy your winter vacation. Are you planning to travel this WInter? What tips would you like to add to this list?
Until our next rendezvous…

Good tips! Packing correctly for a trip is so important! I’m one of those people who check weather apps right up until the day I leave to make sure I know what to expect 😉
