If you love the flavor of BBQ sauce, you are not alone. It takes the raw ingredients of ketchup and then adds to them, creating something that tastes deeper and more interesting than just tomato, salt, vinegar, and a few spices.
BBQ sauce, though, is more versatile than you might think. You can make dozens of dishes with it, some of which we explore below.
Strawberry Chicken
If you’re looking to impress your friends, you might want to experiment with BBQ strawberry chicken. The idea sounds a little unusual, but it’s actually surprisingly simple to make.
Grab a crockpot and then place some chicken pieces inside (either skinless chicken breasts or leg joints). Then add BBQ sauce so that it covers the chicken and some fresh chopped strawberries. Then leave the whole pot to slow-cook for a few hours until the chicken is cooked through and tender. Then serve. What’s nice about this recipe is that it is unusual, and you get the tartness of the strawberry which complements the sweetness of the BBQ sauce.
BBQ Pork

Finding a BBQ restaurant that does pork is easy. However, finding a good recipe by yourself is more challenging.
The trick here is to marinate the pork first or, if you have room, cook it with a spit over an open fire, rotating it slowly.
Pulled Pork Sandwiches
BBQ pulled pork sandwiches are delicious. The meat is soft, tender, and juicy.
All you really need to do for this is slow-cook the pork in a mixture of salt and spices, and then, when finished, rake it with a fork to get that “pulled” effect and then mix it with your pre-made BBQ sauce. Then just pair it with a brioche bun and serve it with a few fries.
BBQ Three-Bean Casserole
Of course, you don’t just have to pair BBQ sauce with meat. It goes well with beans as well.
To make a three-bean casserole, you’ll want a mixture of haricot, kidney, and butter beans. This combination gives you a nice variation in size and texture. If you want the casserole to have a meaty texture but aren’t keen on the idea of including meat, you can also use soya chunks. The BBQ sauce you’ll use will need to be a little runnier than usual so that the ensemble doesn’t dry out during cooking.
BBQ Pizza

While most pizzas use marinara sauce, the choice of what you pour onto your pizza is entirely up to you. Therefore, you might want to try experimenting with BBQ instead.
It’s actually quite easy to do this. These days, you can buy pre-made BBQ pizza sauces. You can also make your own by adding soy sauce and sugar to regular passata.
Remember, because the pizza is sweet, you’ll want the toppings to reflect that. Meats and sweets go well together, as do fruits, like pineapple.
BBQ Brats
Lastly, if you like your hot dogs, sweet-tasting, you might want to try out BBQ brats. These use traditional British pork sausages, not frankfurters, and are served with store-bought BBQ sauce.
