A couple of months ago I posted about traveling to Austin for a quick getaway and how it is a unique a travel destination. So this time, let’s focus on the whole state of Texas. Are you planning on visiting Texas? Great choice! Texas is a place that has so much to offer, from the amazing scenery to the delicious food and the fascinating history. But, if you are going to make the most of your trip, you need to do a bit of advanced planning. Read on to discover some helpful tips on visiting Texas.
Accommodation
One of the most important things you need to remember about Texas is that it is big – very big! Therefore, you need to select your accommodation wisely. Think about all the things you want to do while visiting Texas and choose somewhere that is going to be convenient. One of the good things about Texas is that there is an accommodation to suit everyone. You have the popular and well-known hotels like Sleep Inn & Suites Austin North East. There are also motels, B&Bs, and budget options, as well as lavish properties and five-star accommodation options. No matter your budget, your taste, or your plans, you will be able to find something that suits you.
Places to visit
As mentioned in the previous paragraph, you really need to think about where you are going to visit while in Texas, as it is so big. Some of the best places include San Antonio, Austin, South Padre Island, Dallas, and Houston. Austin is the capital of Texas, and it offers loads in the way of natural scenery, cuisine, and culture. South Padre Island is ideal if you are seeking some relaxation and beautiful shorelines. If it is a quintessential Texas holiday you are looking for, Dallas – Fort Worth will always deliver. Or, perhaps you want to experience one of the USA’s barbecue capitals? If so, Houston provides a good spot for families, and it is affordable too. Finally, San Antonio offers a diverse choice of art, soothing strolls, and is a must-visit for history buffs, as the historic relics are undoubtedly the main draw.
Some final tips for visiting Texas
- If there were a national food of Texas, it would definitely be barbecue beef! In Texas, beef is smoked over wood at low temperatures, creating a delicious flavor and supreme tenderness. Make sure you try it.
- They have tacos and kolaches for breakfast – it comes from their Mexican and Czech influences.
- They love their expressions – like lipstick on a pig, this ain’t my first rodeo, dumb as a box of rocks…
- They call all soda coke; it doesn’t actually matter if it is Mountain Dew or 7-Up. The only soda that ever gets called by its own name is Dr. Pepper.
I am sure that you now feel more ready for your trip to Texas. As you have read, there is so much to see and do in this state. However, because it is so big, you do need to plan carefully and choose your accommodation wisely. If you do this, you are guaranteed to have an amazing vacation to remember for all the right reasons.

Oh, this has me thinking of breakfast tacos and I’m definitely ready for some! Justin loves his Texas BBQ and has waited in line on more than one occasion for it 😉 The Texans know how to eat, and we love them for it!
Breakfast tacos…….
Sorry, I was drooling😁😁
Forwarded to granddaughter who is thinking of relocating. Always enjoy your travel and findings.
Oh, thank you! I’m hoping that she finds it useful.
Really there should be a “National Menu of Texas”. You can eat an iconic dish for every meal here. I suggest, as you have, breakfast tacos for breakfast, brisket or Frito pie for lunch, and chicken fried steak for dinner. Great write up! Glad you came to see the state!
I hope that you don’t eat like that all the time, lol!
Haha goodness, no, though sometimes I wish I could!
