Coffee Date With Trudy #4

coffee date

coffee dateWow, it’s been a while since our last coffee date. I found a new place to meet, somewhere in Greenwich Village and afterward we can go to the park and get food from the Bengali food cart. I’ve been wanting to try it for a long time. Nothing Earth-shattering has happened with me but I’d love to hear more from you. I’ll get us a corner table so we can start chatting.

If we were having coffee right now, I’d let you know that I’m still recovering from being really sick (bronchitis, flu, and sinusitis) so my blogging has suffered because of it. There just wasn’t the energy to do everything and I still don’t feel 100%. I hate being sick in warm weather, it just makes the suffering worse when you are already sweating and changing climates constantly, from air-conditioned air to the swelter. How do you get back on track after being ill?

If we were having coffee right now, I’d tell you that I have backed up posts that I forgot about from Winter and it’s hilarious. But I figured that I’ll still post them because I love the pictures and if mind over matter prevails, I’ll feel cooler. What are your favorite memories from Winter?
If we were having coffee right now, I’d tell you about my plans for the upcoming summer months. So far I have a yearly picnic with friends, a couple of family members visiting throughout June, Afropunk, maybe a short trip to Montréal and planning to take advantage of all the free events this Summer in New York City. What are your plans for the next couple of months?
If we were having coffee right now, I’d let you know that I am trying to get better with my photography,  every chance I get. I’m just shooting random subjects to figure out my style of photography although it’s hard not to be jealous of other photographer’s skill. Have you seen my Instagram? Let me know what you think.
If we were having coffee right now, I’d tell you how I’m trying to integrate more raw vegetables in my diet and less sugar and salt. I usually do this in Summer anyway but, this Winter I ate especially badly, too many processed foods. So maybe I’ll add a cleanse to this as well, I really want to get my energy level up. Are you changing anything in your regime for health reasons?

Let’s keep the conversation going! Tell me everything that is new with you, I can’t wait to hear all about it. Leave your comments below and don’t forget I’ve got the tab, have as many coffees/teas as you like but leave room for lunch.

Until our next rendezvous…
XOXO
Trudy

  1. I commented but it’s gone. Anyway, I’ll start over.
First of all my nose is dripping like a tap from allergies. Secondly, it’s hot so I’ll have an iced coffee with fake sugar and a bit of skim milk. I want the coffee strong enough to put hair on a bald man’s head.
OK. I’m hoping you are feeling much better because it sucks the way our blogs are affected. My hours in Retail Hell are having an effect on my blog and I hate that. I’m an heiress in a pauper’s body!
Interviewing for a full-time position but ageism and ageist employers don’t want to hire a 61 year old. Bastids!
I’m prepping for our annual visit to France and Bonaparte is impressed at my ability to complain just like the French!
Off to get ready to face yet, another day of serial returners. Retail Hell is aiding and abetting fraud!

    1. I used to work retail and it drained a majority of my sympathy, that’s when I knew it was time to quit that line of work. I came into work annoyed, big clue.
Anyway I only drink strong coffee but it can’t be bitter. I know you’ll succeed despite the ageism, although I’ve dealt with it. Have a wonderful trip to France and shop duty free for me!

  2. Trudy, I have missed you! Thanks for suggesting we meet for coffee. I’m looking forward to lunch, too. I’ve never had more than a pretzel from a food cart in Manhattan!!

That’s too bad that you were so ill. Hope you get your zest for life back in high gear soon. I’ll look forward to the posts you didn’t send before. I visited a blog site yesterday where a photo of snow was displayed. It was cool to see it on a warm day.

Your plans for the next few months sound great. We will be in the metropolitan area soon, but I doubt we’ll drive through the city. We’re going to a funeral on the Connecticut/Massachusetts border and will be in NJ to celebrate our oldest grandson’s 21st birthday. In a few weeks we think our younger grandson is coming to spend the summer. In the middle of June our neighbor Amy and her sister will spend a night or so with us as she moves away. I don’t know if anyone else has made reservations for our private bed and breakfast.

We try to eat a healthy diet all the time, but we are constantly making exceptions for various favorites. We’re looking forward to having more fresh veggies as the farm stands gear up with local produce. We’re a bit behind eating fads and just discovered roasting vegetables last year.

I’m hoping to have something iced — probably mocha if the new place has something like that. I’ll have only one and sip it with maddening slowness. Hope we don’t get thrown out for staying too long.

    See you in a few!

    1. Aaw Anne you are so sweet! Thank you I’ve missed you too! I’m hoping all my plans turn out buy there’s no guarantee yet. Anyway your plans sound great, except for the funeral of course. Traveling is a great way to spend the Summer.
Yes I’m usually healthy but I hot into unhealthy habits last year and obviously my health paid for it. So no more. You take your time with your iced mocha. No one is kicking us out!

  3. I’m sorry you’ve been ill – it can certainly be a challenge to get back into the swing of things can’t it?! Sounds like you’ve got some fun things planned for summer. My plans are rather loose, but that’s how I like them so that’s perfect. I poked around your Instagram page and am very impressed. I’m inspired as well. My photography skills are pretty rudimentary, but perhaps if I actually spent some intentional time shooting a bit I might actually improved. Now maybe that’s a summer project for me to consider. Wishing you a wonderful week.

    1. Thank you for checking out my Instagram account. I’m always working on it. There are do many accounts that I admire. Yes I’m also working on my health and it is tough. My plans are pretty loose as well, for now anyway. I did a WordPress photography course, it really helped. Have a great week as well!

  4. I don’t drink coffee, but I would enjoy a quaff with you anytime if I ever get to New York City! Hopefully you can eventually shake this crap cold, as for me it’s Midwest allergy season and it’s starting to kick my butt :(.

    1. I have allergies too and the tree pollen count is really high right now, so I was dealing with that too but itchy eyes and runny nose are definitely better than coughing till I gag. Lol. Anyway I’d love to have coffee but what’s a quaff? Either way it would be good to chat, we’d both be a sickly sight for other people at the coffee shop.

    1. Yea I have no idea why I’m not in the Reader. Hmm, I’ll try to figure that out although I’m sure that I probably won’t. Can’t wait to read about your fun, soon! Thank you Sabine! I’m wishing you well too.

  5. Yeah, I keep thinking about getting healthier with my eating. I know it’s been awhile since some of the healthy food I really enjoy is now tasting not so good. I know that changes when you eat it on more of a regular basis. Evidently I haven’t done a great job of eating well during the winter either!

    1. Maybe if you prepare it differently it will fool your taste buds, during the warmer weather there’s so much abundance that I want to try everything, in lots of different ways. So maybe that will work for you.

  6. I’m working on taking better and more pictures as well. Most of the time I am trying to focus on more random objects I see. I absolutely adore nature and am a freak about taking cloud pictures. I need to branch out. You’ve encouraged me.

    1. I’m glad that I can encourage anything positive. I didn’t even know how much I enjoyed taking pictures until I started blogging and now I can’t stop looking for things to capture. Just relax and enjoy, no one is grading, in that way the joy will be evident in the picture.

      1. That’s my view on picture taking as well. Does it make me happy or is it something that makes me pause? Yes? Then my camera starts snapping!

  7. Hi, Fab blog! I have just set up mine, but still in the very early stages – a few months old. Just making efforts to link in with fellow bloggers to improve our followers and get the word out there for us both. I would appreciate you having a peek at my blog, as I have published several posts. Feel free to like, comment, follow or just take a peek. Thank you 🙂

    1. Great! I probably need to do it more often. I think about it frequently, but only end up doing it a couple of times a year. Since it’s food based, I could probably do it every month (esp after the holidays and various special occasions when I tend to overindulge!!)

What do you think? I would like to know.
