I have promised some of my blogger friends, especially InCahootsWithMuddyBoots, to highlight vegetarian restaurants that I enjoy. Well, I kept that in mind when I recently visited Red Bamboo.

Red Bamboo has been a mainstay in Greenwich ever since I can remember. I never get tired of visiting this tiny restaurant because the menu options are so varied and the desserts are drool-worthy. I do have to preface my pictures by saying I was so hungry that I couldn’t be bothered with styling my food and the restaurant at night is softly lit above with candlelight at the tables.
My test subject for the evening was Karina, and she has no intention of being vegetarian/vegan. But she was willing to try, cheers to her! I’m my opinion, this is the best restaurant to invite

a steadfast carnivore. For appetizers, we ordered jerk “chicken” skewers which were delicious.

I had a Lambic raspberry ale with my dinner and Karina had a vegan chocolate shake for drinks. And for our entrée, she chose “chicken” Parmesan with garlic bread and I picked fried “chicken” with sweet potato fries and collard greens with veggie ham.

The portions were huge and we had to get the leftovers to go.

I was stuffed but I’ve been here before and I had to get dessert. We shared a huge slice of vegan carrot cake and I couldn’t wait to dig in that’s why the picture isn’t perfect and it was perfect in my belly!

If you are in the Greenwich Village area please do visit this restaurant, you won’t regret it! It’s at 140 West 4th Street(between 6th Ave & Macdougal). Do you ever go to vegetarian/vegan restaurants in your area? If so, is it a favorite of yours? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear about it!
Until our next rendezvous…
XOXO
That all sounds and looks delicious! Great photography.
Thank you so much. Hope you are well.
Wow! Great review! On rare occasion, we go to a vegetarian restaurant in Portland called “Natural Selection”. It has some of the best food ever. The only drawback is the expense! They serve a four course meal, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices. We always reserve the chef’s table, where you can watch the cooks. Plus they bring you extra tasters at that table! Super delicious!!
The chef’s table… Ooo fancy! This restaurant isnt special occasion just a place I enjoy. And they’ll be more because I have a list that I started when we “met”.
Very cool! We don’t eat out much, but there are some places I really like.
I am looking forward to more reviews! 🙂
I think the next one will be my favorite vegetarian Indian food.
Yum! I am looking forward to that one! Unfortunately, good Indian food is hard to find around here. At least the kind I like! ?
Is it a special region?
My favorite is South Indian food! Rasam, sambar, idli, masala dosai … So I mostly make it myself.
The restaurant I’m planning to go to has the best whole wheat dosas and I get the “businessman” lunch with sambar included, lol
That sounds delicious! ? Now I am really looking forward to that review! ?
?
I love “lambic” beers, hope you enjoyed!
I did thank you!
Looks and sounds delicious!
It was great! It is a favorite of mine.
