New York is one of the most famous cities on the planet and an incredibly popular tourist destination as a result. However, it is said that familiarity can breed contempt, so do New Yorkers understand why millions of people want to visit our home city every year?
We do– New York is the one city where the locals love the area just as much as the throngs of tourists. It’s easy for a New Yorker to understand the appeal of this city; for one thing, even if you live here your entire life, there’s always going to be something you have missed. If you want a vibrant, ever-changing, dynamic city, then New York should be the first place you consider. This city has so much to offer, so if you’re wondering whether or not it’s worth booking those cheap flights to New York, then here are 10 reasons we locals think our city has plenty to offer the ardent tourist…
Nothing Is Ever The Same
New York is a city of change, of modernization, of development. There’s always something new to try, meaning that even if you visited New York every year for the rest of your life, you’d never have to repeat the same activity twice. There’s always a new restaurant opening; a new Broadway production; a new museum, so you’re guaranteed to find something exciting during your visit.
New York, It’s Not As Busy As You Think
Yes, New York is a populous city that is always bustling with travelers also, but the experience of being in the city isn’t anywhere near as overwhelming as it can sometimes look. Like anywhere in the world, New York has its busy times of day, but outside of that, the city is no different to other metropolitan areas– plenty of people, but nothing overwhelming.
New York, The Skyline Never Stops Being Impressive
Even if you’ve seen it a thousand times, the New York skyline — especially when viewed from a ferry on the Hudson — still manages to be impressive. It’s an image that is depicted on thousands of T-shirts and art prints throughout the world, so having the opportunity to see it in person is an experience you’re not going to want to miss.
New York Is The Center Of Everything
While New York might not be the official capital of the US, there’s no doubt that the city lays a claim to being the capital of the world. Be it fashion, finance, or entertainment, New York is seen as the epitome, the place where everything happens. There’s a buzz around the city due to this, and it’s one you have to feel in person to truly understand.
New York Has Something For Everyone
There are so many different types of tourists, all looking for different things– and every one of them will be satisfied by New York There’s history, culture, art, business, and even lush green spaces for fans of natural living to enjoy. Whatever you want from a destination, New York has it.
So even the locals agree; if you want to rendezvous with a city that never disappoints, New York should be top of your travel wish list. Have you traveled to my city? What did you do here? When are you planning to visit, if you haven’t already? What and where are on your list to visit when you arrive here? Do you every go upstate as well?
Until our next rendezvous…
XOXO

I visited New York two years ago and I wasn´t at all disappointed. Definitely New York is a must for anyone who enjoys travelling.
That’s wonderful to read! What did you do while you were here?
Agree with all of this. Especially that it’s not as overwhelming as people think it might be. I also find New Yorkers a lot friendlier than natives from other major cities.
What a great compliment! Thank you! It’s very rare for me to see a New Yorker being rude to a tourist, especially when I’m on the train. People being overwhelmed is from staying in areas like Times Square during mid day.
It does look like a gorgeous city! I can see why you love it! <3
How is the pollution in NY? I loooove London but the pollution gave me such bad asthma so I am keen to avoid having to experience that again.
Yes, New York does have a lot of beauty but people tend to only stay in certain areas so they miss out on a lot. In the of July through August we have a haze, or called an ozone alert but it’s not everyday and depends on the humidity. The problem I have is allergies because during the Spring and Fall the grasses and trees are in hyperdrive.
Yeah, that is hard to escape wherever you go!!
There weren’t many days like that this Summer though.
Nice! 🙂
To be fair, although the air here (in Vancouver) is really good, there are so many forest fires in the summer that the air can end up quite smokey and gross. It’s so sad to think so many forests were getting destroyed though. 🙁
I would love to visit Vancouver. I love the parts of Canada that I have seen.
It is sad and ironic since forests clean the air.
One day you are giving me a tour of the city, I don’t care if I’m in a wheelchair and you have to get around via a walker, it is going to happen :).
Silly!
Hopefully it happens before we get old :), granted I’ve got 20 plus years on you LOL.
I live in Connecticut and have actually never been to New York. its on my list
How could you not, even for a weekend? I hope that you visit soon!
well, you were right bout one thing tho… Nothing’s ever the same
It’s been too long. We have to plan a trip. Will Talk to M. About it this week.
Late Spring early Summer would be a perfect time!
